It’s very well known that Bangkok is full of markets, and Thai people just can’t get over them.
They are part of their culture, they visit them not only for shopping but also to have lunch or diner, as most of them do not cook at home.
We’ve had never got any chance of visiting any floating markets in our previous trips to Thailand, as they occur only on weekends, and they are quite far from the city center. Plus you have to get there quite early to beat the crowd and the heat.
While Clem’s family visited us, we decided it was a good time to try out one of them: Khlom Lat Mayom Foating Market. It is only at a 40mn drive from the city center, and is not too touristy.

You can find many food stalls of course, but also clothes, gadgets, and restaurants.
There is also a 1hr cruise at just 100 THB per person, to go around the area. It’s funny for people who never took an longtail boat before to see the khlongs. Also, you will most likely see some monitor lizards!

The market itself is not a typical floating market, where you’d expect to shop directly from your boat. Here, the vendors are on boats but you are going around directly from a path.

This market is the perfect opportunity to discover Bangkok’s floating market culture, and to get some great moody pictures.
It is far from the most known other floating markets of Tripadvisor etc, which are packed with tourists and where you can’t even walk in the alleys!
